Japanese Translators

The frequency of multilingual meetings and events continues to increase as businesses and organizations add employees, customers, and partners around the world. Meetings and events are more engaging and inclusive when everyone speaks the same language, but that is not always possible. Human interpreters and translators are an option, but the high cost and logistical complexity limits their use to big budget events and organizations.

Wordly solves the multilingual collaboration problem with a proven, high quality, highly scalable AI-powered translation platform which provides simultaneous interpretation into Japanese and dozens of other languages. Speakers and attendees each select their preferred language at the start of the session - selecting from live translated captions or audio - and using their mobile phone, tablet, or computer. Offering translation services is a great way to increase engagement, productivity, and inclusivity.

Japanese Language History

What is the History of the Japanese language?
The Japanese language, a member of the Japonic language family, has a complex and fascinating history shaped by cultural exchanges, geographic isolation, and social developments. It has evolved over centuries, reflecting Japan’s unique cultural identity and its interactions with neighboring nations.

  • Old Japanese: The earliest form of the Japanese language began to emerge around the 8th century. It was heavily influenced by Chinese, particularly in terms of vocabulary and writing systems. During this period, Japan adopted Chinese characters (kanji) and began using them to write Japanese.
  • Middle Japanese: Between the 12th and 16th centuries, Japanese evolved into what is known as Middle Japanese. This period saw the development of the kana scripts (hiragana and katakana), which were used alongside kanji to represent native Japanese words. Middle Japanese also marks the rise of distinctive regional dialects and the early emergence of modern grammar.
  • Early Modern Japanese: From the 17th century to the mid-19th century, the Japanese language saw significant shifts in phonology, vocabulary, and grammar. Foreign influences, especially from China and the West, began to have an impact, and the written form of Japanese became standardized for the first time. This period also saw the flourishing of kabuki, ukiyo-e, and other cultural forms that contributed to the richness of the Japanese language.
  • Modern Japanese: With the Meiji Restoration in the late 19th century, Japan opened up to the world and began rapid modernization. The Japanese language underwent further reforms, including the simplification of kanji and the development of a standardized national language. Today, Modern Japanese is spoken by over 125 million people in Japan and by communities worldwide. The language continues to evolve, incorporating words from foreign languages, while maintaining its unique linguistic structure.
